The Long Point Bird Observatory (LPBO) runs a Saw-whet Owl banding program open to the public in the evenings in October around the new moon when it is darkest. This year, the new moon begins on October 21, and our club will attend on October 18.
Fun fact: in 2024, LPBO banded 302 Northern Saw-whet Owls and 6 Eastern Screech Owls during October! Cathy plans on attending and encourages owl enthusiasts to join — this is a must-see experience. More details will follow when updated on their website.
